PostSubject: A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance)   A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance) Icon_minitime1Sat Jun 21, 2014 6:01 pm

Tristan stayed in the shadows. Suffering still from the collar a bit but thanks to a week or two of things from the lady at the Starry Prophesizer's help the illegal artifact was gone. Well some other sources may have helped with that. Either way the item was off. He couldn't recall. She'd helped him with healing and depoisoning some stuff so he'd come back after scrounging up some coins and waited for the man to open his shop. When it was unlocked he slipped in and dropped coins silently on the counter and paid for the anti-wolfsbane herbs and immediately took them. Going into the shadows and stayed there.

The day went by and sometime during it he'd fallen asleep. A bandana was tied around his neck to hide the illegal artifact burn. He stayed in the shadows curled up between herb shelves. The outfit he wore had seen better days. Fluffy singing to him in her own way as he slept. The day passed and the store hit closing time. Normally he slipped out before that but he was exhausted and his body was mending and reenergizing. Plus he was still silver poisoned quite a bit. He didn't wake until a blanket hitting him cause a yelp that stifled quickly.

He sat up and pressed into the shadows. Silence taking it over as he stared down at the object that hit him. Shaking hard from the years of abuse. He didn't say anything. Just picked up Fluffy and looked to see the master of the scorpion of gold in the area. He waved and mumbled sorry. Saying nothing and looked down.

A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance) Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance)   A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance) Icon_minitime1Sat Jun 21, 2014 7:13 pm

Opening his shop, Terrance hadn't been surprised to see that same kid waiting to come in. It seemed routine for him to either pay for the herbs and choose a corner to immitate a rock in, or immediately try and become one with the shadows. Today it was the former. He'd been watching and observing the kid since he'd started running the shop again. This kid was always quiet, but not in the polite way. This was more of a survival quiet. Occasionally he saw his lips moving but it was always to that creature he held.

Terrance knew to let the boy be. He wasn't harming anyone. Nor was he doing this to brag or on a dare. As much as he lamented about his shop turnimg into a daycare, there were some children he didn't mind. This one was one of them. Curiously he wondered how long the kid had been showing up like clockwork to the store. It hadn't been before he left on his two year excursion. So after that...

Hazel eyes watched as he'd occasionally "talk" to someone. When he did speak, Terrance made sure he was in hearing range. A few times he'd stifled the urge to laugh, having to turn away. The kid whether he knew it or not knew quite a bit. Even those blue herbs. Knew not to brush or touch some of the leaves and powders with his bare hands.

The day went as it usually did with regular customers, first time ones, and a few idiots that catching his glare scampered off. Running a hand through his hair he as he habitually did, glanced to the boy's hiding place. Occasionally he'd lose track of him and he'd slip out by closing. Today the kid was still there...and asleep. Careful to not wake him, Terrance locked up then took the blanket reserved for when Scrappy crashed. Opening it he tossed it on the boy about to return to the counter to write a note when the kid woke.

He'd caught the noise and trembling. Shutting down what that did, Terrance as he had when he'd had to calm his daughter kept his body relaxed and open. Showed the boy he had no wand and had no intentions of hurting him. Acting as if he were a normal kid, or rather as if it were Scrappy, Terrance pointed towards the back. "There's an icebox and hotplate in the back if you're hungry. Help yourselves."

Terrance wasn't sure if the kid left to eat at all or even brought anything to munch on. Somehow he doubted it. Used to having to be stocked for unexpected company, he actually had food stored away. His own eating habits had dwindled but at least it was there. As if an afterthought he stated as he walked back to the counter and his ledger, "If you want to leave the shop will lock behind you. If you want to kip here there's a spare bed in back that's only used when my children stay the night." His tone and posture let hom know that it was entirely the boy's decision. That said he started going over his budget but keenly aware of the child.

PostSubject: Re: A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance)   A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance) Icon_minitime1Sat Jun 21, 2014 10:54 pm

Tristan tensed then relaxed. Seeming to pick up the blanket and sniffed it. Cleaning supplies, an herbal softner and cleanser, the shop master's scent on various places. other than that it smelled like the fabric making up the blanket. No strange substances. The herbal softner and cleanswer was a cotton-lavender-poly coated mixture that contained no foul substances or additives...namely silver or wolfsbane. Satisfied with the no poison factor, he was not too sure of this "gift of kindness" still.

He narrowed his eyes suspiciously at the blanket anyways. Turning it over to the side that had hit him and spreads it out silently. Fluffy placed on his head. He takes out a smooth stone and begins to run it slowly over the area at the top. Repeating this over and over again until he'd checked the entire blanket with the stone. Poking it to another rock and satisfied there was no negative reactions he put them back into his pockets. Wrapping the blanket around him tightly. Shaking as he pressed into the shadows. Saying nothing.

He looked away like he didn't see the man talking to him. Looking to the man as he acknowledged him speaking but didn't look him in the eyes until he spoke. His eyes narrowed and raised as an expression like what game you playing or what kind of trick do you think you are pulling? Do you really think I'll buy that? He looked away silently. His expression generally unreadable but the slight motion and expressions were there but gone.

Haunted soulful lifeless eyes raised to look at him. He mumbled and Fluffy responded. He ignored his stomach which growled at the icebox and hotplate commentary. He held his stomach and patted it silently. As if saying its all in your imagination we aren't hungry. He never left to eat and never bought anything to munch on because the one time he had cheese the scorpion of gold stalked him the whole time. Like it thought he'd waste something as precious as food. He was heavily malnourished and the wolfman genetics he was cursed with kept him strong where most boys his age would be skeletal and barely moving. Strong...an operative word.

He blinked a bit and looked at the door. Paling and mumbled something before giving him a skeptical suspicious look at the bed. He nodded his head. Taking Fluffy off his head. "Fluffy says so the boy with no shirt on ever except when he left in a kimono and facepaints is yours. The boy with the pipe who stares like a stalker. The girl who is noisy and won't ever shut up so its best to pretend that you are deaf and dumb and mute? Those are the frequent youths aside from the child who Fluffy and Tristan aren't sure if its a boy or a girl even the scents hard to tell. Least for me. The weird boy or girl child here is often with a list for someone called Papi or Wallbreaker or Lady Disguise."

Lowering Fluffy he put her on his head and hid yet the look was like he hadn't wished to respond but the instincts conditioned into him told him it was safer to answer at least one statement the man said and he chose the one which wouldn't require him expressing distrust or personal information that he hadn't stated before.

A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance) Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance)   A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance) Icon_minitime1Sun Jun 22, 2014 4:09 am

Out of his peripheral vision, Terrance watched as the boy sniffed it like Scrappy would. Noting the small things, expressions and body language. He continued to multitask as if he was paying no mind to the boy or his actions. If he hadn't known from the herbs the kid bought earlier, the sniffing would clue him in the boy was a werewolf. Been one long enough to be able to pick up and identify scents.

Interest piqued when he saw the boy's next actions. 'Was that...it is...' That was a more 'arcane' magic. Since most wizarss just used spells to check for traps most didn't bother with old methods. The smart ones still did. Never knew if the trap would be set off by the slightest hint of magic. This kid was clever and wasn't going to just take Terrance's word that he hadn't laced the blanket with a powder or spell.

Terrance had mixed reaction to that. Respect, sadness, and approval. He was relieved that the boy decided to stay. Knockturn was named aptly. Night was when the real residents came out. It was safer for the kid inside. Scorpius would look after the kid. He had to find a way to thank Scrappy for that. And the droid that kept him from freezing his balls off and hexing stupid children and idiot adults.

That conditioning of the kid's angered him and he hoped whoever it was paid dearly. Terrance wondered if part of the not meeting eyes was partialy due to the werewolf side. Meeting the eyes was like issuing a challenge. When he did see those eyes though, tje expression alone in them had him not want to look for too long. The more he studied him, the more Terrance knew he'd have to tread carefully yet not let it appear he was doing so.

As "Fluffy" talked, Terrance couldn't surpress the bark of laughter at the accurate discriptions. That was his Scrappy, Sherlock, and Xena. He choked back the laughter, his cheeks hurting from the lack of use. He'd never been one to laugh much but it was less now. He'd quirk a smile or two in amusement but laughter was rare. "Those first thres are mine," he agreed wondering the girl/boy child was. Filing it away for perusal later.

Making a decision, Terrance stood making sure all his moves were broadcasted so as not to surprise the boy. Scratching at his cheek he meandered towards the back speaking conventionally while he did so. "Don't know about the two of you, but I'm a bit hungry." What would overpower the kid's distrustful instinct and get him to eat? Going through what had available he muttered the names loud enough to be heard.

Tristan instinctively wasn't looking the "alpha male" of the shop in the eyes. Hugging the blanket to him tighter as Fluffy sang musically on top of his head. He heard the bark of laughter than what sounded like the guy choking. He didnt' show any reaction to the possibility the guy was choking other than to press into the shadows slightly more. Nodding his head but said nothing when Terrance confirmed the three that were his. He looked at him without looking at him. Staring at him through the lashes of eyes that didn't seem open more than partway. He opened them more as he listened to him speaking. Ignoring the fact the man seemed to want to talk...he had no desire to talk. He felt the boy who played with blue leaves over did his talking quota for at least a week...or more. Let alone socialization was not high on his to do list. Mostly for other people's protection...partily he was antisocial due to his history. He silently moved, even had done so that Austin didn't hear him most times, after the guy. Hearing the sounds as he relocated himself into shadows near but not close enough the older male could catch him if he needed to bolt...the master of the shop. Watching him without any sign of life within those haunting soulful hues.

PostSubject: Re: A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance)   A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance) Icon_minitime1Sun Jun 22, 2014 9:23 pm

Taking out some leftovers he heated it up without speaking. Terrance had no idea what it was and didn't want to know. As long as it was edible and didn't make him a cannible, he was content. He was reasonably sure that it hadn't been anything Xena and/or Sherlock had cooked/ordered. There was nothing on earth that would ever get him to eat something ordered or made by his daughter. Her alter was a coin toss that he would also rather avoid. Judging by the contents of the container as well as the logo on it, he was sure it was safe for consumption.

Rummaging, he found two bowls to place the now heated food in. He'd had to halt his natural reaction when he caught sight of the boy as if he'd just appeared there. He was quieter than the puppy. The brat had jumped him a time or two and the number of times Xena tried to do it didn't bear remembering. Now he just had to figure out how to get the kid to eat. He was out of his depth here not knowing how to proceed. The kid was suspicious of any overture so he wouldn't press. Survival always trumped conditioning, he'd found. And food was a necessity of living.

Leaving the bowl intended for the kid on the counter, he slid it towards the nearer the kid. Terrance turned his attention towards his own food and ate as a show that it wasn't poisoned. Just like with Scrappy, a name just appeared and so even if just in his head, he aas going to call the kid Gizmo. It was better than always referencing him as "kid". Hopefully he'd eat so he wouldn't wake to a dead body in his shop.

Tristan stuff Fluffy into his pocket for now. Watching the man as he moved around. Smelling food as the guy opened something. Watching him stick it in some device he'd never seen. He then watched the guy scoop it into food. Staying pressed into a shadowed area. His eyes stared out at him. Watching the man warily. His eyes followed every body motion and action of the male. He said nothing as he watched the shopkeeper. Hugging the blanket around him tighter. Pulling out of a pocket food for Fluffy as she poked up out of his pocket and started to eat. He would need to get more eventually. Watching him curiously. Not understanding this person. He watched him push the bowl nearer to where he was.

He saw the bowl without Terrance near, got up so he was nearer to it and sniffed a bit. Nothing smelled strange. He wasn't sure about this "offering" and why it was given. Nothing was free in life. He moved in a crouched with blanket still towards it. Not sure as he stood up and sniffed the bowl. He checked it for poisons or anything else. Not smelling any didn't lead him to eat it. Instead he moved away and lifted Fluffy. "Fluffy wants to know whats the catch...why you giving Tristan food."

PostSubject: Re: A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance)   A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance) Icon_minitime1Sun Jul 06, 2014 4:20 pm

Not glancing at the boy and his pet, the reply came casually. The only thing evident in the man's voice was truth and unconcern. "Its less that I have to eat."

While this was true, it was only part of the reason. Not only had his hunger diminished since food lost a bit of its flavor for him, he just plain forgot at times. The other reason was he had a suspicion that it was only the boy's will, magic, and being a puppy that was keeping him from being a walking skeleton. Cocking his head he cast a look at the colorful pet then past it to the 'bot that had taken to zapping Terrance whenever it thought he was too relaxed. Returning his gaze to his bowl he shrugged and stated before spooning another mouthful. "I also don't want to wake up and find Gizmo died from hunger. Not a pretty way to go. Don't know if dehydration is worse," he mused as he thought back to seeing both types of death. Shrugging, he fell silent until the damn bot decided Terrance wasn't allowed to ruminate on past deeds.

Swearing, the man narrowed his eyes at the bot. He brandished his spoon at it. "You're lucky you were a gift from Scrappy and I need you. Otherwise I would introduce your mechanical arse to Thanos. He would love a new toy to play with and dismantle."

PostSubject: Re: A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance)   A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance) Icon_minitime1Wed Jul 09, 2014 6:36 am

Tristan watched Terrance cautiously. Eyeing him a bit. Pursing his lips as he heard the truth but didn't trust it. Less he had to it. He moved the food around with Fluffy held in one hand. Cuatiously. Moving it to look under it. Then looked at the man. He was honest about that comment that it was less he had to eat himself. He didn't trust the food still yet. He knew the man was aware of his presence. Moreso since the man obviously knew he hadn't just been here once.

He had never seen the man show any youths the time of day to throw a blanket on them. He had observed him caring about the annoying girl who never shut up. He observed the half naked boy and the owner of the shop were like equals and best friends. He had seen him chase off some kids and others give something he had deemed necessary to pay attention to. It was obvious it was just a ploy of some kind to keep them from being stupid or pissing him off. Those types never came back. There was the girlish boyish kid his age that came and often got orders who seemed to know the master of the shop. So this made him more unsure, all these facts he had gathered without trying to about Terrance, that he was feeding him.

"Fluffy says Dehydration would be worse. With constant water supply or source, you can go six months or longer. Three to four months the body can go without feeding off itself. Five to six months it will start to eat from its fat stores. Longer still it will eat off other places until you are weaker and famished yet still living. Fluffy says while malnourished one can go far longer without food then without water. Two weeks is the max you can go without water before reality becomes hallucinations. A month or longer you will die. If not comatose until given water. Always find source of water...food you can go without longer before death."

He fell silent after that. He knew this from experience. Yet didn't say that. He had stated facts to the comment he was sure was more interesting and would be least personal of all. Along with if he commented on the statement he did he wouldn't have to do more than say that. He was sure Terrance wasn't stupid and would probably connect dots. Not mind the bit he said nor force him to say more than he did in one go.

Silence hit them for a long time and he enjoyed that. He had only commented to the nuetral statement on deaths but primarily on dehydration. Simply because he wasnt sure if Gizmo was him but he was thinking it was. If so he did not wish to push his luck and his hiding place. After a long moment he looked at him and held up Fluffy.
"Fluffy says Tristan will only eat from the offered food bowl if the master of the shop who offered the food takes from the middle of it and eats from it."

There was a reason he said that. Though he didn't say the reason or that he didn't trust him he was sure the man would understand. The guy seemed cautious too and to understand him better than others even if they had never associated or seemed to notice the other before now. Further evidence was the guy's suddden interjection with the older boy whose name he didn't remember even if it was told. Even if it was poisoned or spiked, it would spread throughout the rest of the food. The best place to put something into food is the middle as by essence it would spread out the rest of the way.

He wasn't trying to do anything but make sure it was safe. If the man wouldn't eat from the bowl or take from there he wouldn't eat the food. This was a conditioned response due to when he was younger he'd been fooled that way. When he caught on he decided unless someone was willing to eat from the best place to poison a whole dish not just a section, and they gave it to him, then he wasn't eating it. Hugging the blanket to him more he waited to see if the man did it

PostSubject: Re: A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance)   A Thousand Words ~ Intermission Silence (Terrance) Icon_minitime1Wed Jul 09, 2014 10:11 pm

Even as he threatened the 'bot, the man took notice of what his guest was doing. His respect for the boy went up a notch. No one should trust an unknown food source. Oh he knew what Gizmo was checking for. However he'd thought it might have shown the food wasn't tainted when he'd taken food from the some container. He had thought about tasting the food to prove it to the kid, but thought his first showing was enough. Apparently it wasn't.

Nodding his agreement as he recalled what he'd seen. Had done as well as experienced at the hands of Carter. As the boy was speaking the tone and way he said it matter of factly spoke volumes. The kid had experienced this first hand. As the victim. That did not sit well with him. If someone deserved it, fine. But a child would have done nothing to warrant such treatment.

When the kid gave his order, Terrance's lips quirked in approval. Gizmo was smart. Nodding, he stated, "Fair enough."

Placing the spoon in the middle he lifted it to his mouth. His hazel eyes stayed on the fluffball so the kid wouldn't take it as a challenge. Swallowing, he didn't do anything else allowing the other to observe to see that there were no adverse effects. When the time had elapsed that a posion would have started reacting, Terrance went back to his own food to finish it.

Moving deliberately, the man pulled out some bottled water. Breaking the seal of one he toom a sip once again staring at Fluffy before capping it and setting it within reach of the boy. After the required time, Terrance then opened the other bottle and drank from it. Nodding his head to an alcove, he stated, "Loo is through there."

Tristan watched Terrance as he said it. Eyeing him warily and watched him. Studying the male for the entire time then took the bowl and slowly started to eat when nothing happened to the man. He didn't look at him and put Fluffy on the table. He slowly put spoonful after spoonful of food in his mouth. Slowly so he didnt' get too nauseated or throw it up from eating too fast. He ate with manners yet without seeming to his gaze never left the other and followed his every movement. He didn't take the water bottle as he could drink from the spring. A subtle nod showed he heard him but he didn't comment or acknowledge the statement otherwise.

The slow eating was something he noted. Anyone who had gone without and then ate quickly when given food would know the behavior. That the consequences would be getting sick. The same with water. Was why after running or strenuous activity you sipped not glugged water. Sipping his drink, he gazed at the furry critter while his mind wandered.

Blinking, he gave Scorpius a warning look before standing. The little bot had snuck up from wherever it had been hiding. Taking his bowl amd spoon he dumped it in the sink to clean later. Giving a nod in the boy's direction he headed upstairs with he remainder of his water. He entrusted Scorpius to look after the shop and leave the kid alone. "Night, Gizmo. If Scorpius tries anything you have permission to retaliate."

Tristan looked at the man. Long as he stayed out of Scorpius's way the diabolic little thing never paid him a second glance. He looked around and inspected everywhere, still hugging the blanket around him...with fluffy on his head singing...before heading over silently to a place that was half lit and half dark. Curling on his side he encased himself in the blanket. Leaving only a space for his mouth so he didn't suffocate. Holding Fluffy against his chest humming back and forth with her until he fell asleep. Sometime during the night Scorpius had ended up sitting on top of the sleeping bundle causing it to turn very rock still even subconsciously. Having made itself comfortable, it was sitting there on top of tristant and blanket like this is mine. It stared at Terrance when he came down the next morning.

Terrance hadn't heard the sound of the door leaving so had assumed that the kid had gone to sleep downstairs. Habit more than anything regarding his downstairs visitor had him sleeping lightly. When he'd come downstairs fully dressed but still with scruff on his face, he'd paused halfway down the stairs at the sight that greeted him. He blinked for a moment uncomprehendingly then growned. Great, his sort of 'pet' had decided that Gizmo was it's pet. Shaking his head he deadapnned, "No, you cannot keep him, Scorpius."

Continuing towards the 'kitchen' if you could call it that, he grabbed some kind of fruit that was on the counter and ate it without really caring what it was other than non-toxic. He ate while waiting for Gizmo to wake up, or at least show that he was awake. He wouldn't really put it past the kid to have already been awake since either Scorpius climbed on him, or when Terrance had first stepped foot on the stairs. Well, whatever. He went towards the front to get his shop in order before opening it for the morning business.
